This project involved the design of 2 steel portal frame structures for the development of 3 new industrial units. Secondary steels were designed for the support of the cladding and lateral stability of the structure. A composition of pad footings and ground beams was used for the substructure design, the presence of trees and desiccated soils required for the footings to be founded at a depth ranging from 1.7-2.0m below ground level. Storm attenuation tanks were used to comply with the SUDS requirements for the site in order to discharge the rainwater to the nearby stream at a rate which mimics existing green field run off rates.
